Steamboat’s Spectacular Summertime
The Porches is the place to be for fun in the sun! And with Steamboat laying claim to some of the mildest, most scenic summers you can find in Colorado, there’s simply no better summertime getaway. The 2011 summer season was unforgettable, with hundreds of guests and owners flocking to The Porches to enjoy the bounty of recreational options in Steamboat. Simply put, Steamboat is a veritable summertime playground!

We’ve been celebrating the return of summer with some poolside parties at The Porches. Our biggest event of the season was a block party bash we hosted in June that drew a great crowd to the Barn for some food & fun family festivities.  The dozens of children in attendance were thrilled to discover Snow Kone & popcorn machines, a skilled face painter, & even a huge prehistoric-themed bounce house!

Their parents were equally as exuberant at the opportunity to sip cocktails, mingle with friendly Porches owners & staff, and devour an epic spread anchored by Steamboat Smokehouse’s scintillating barbecue.

Tying together all of the outdoor food & fun was a talented live cover band that regaled the crowds with country-tinged renditions of many classic songs. But less than an hour into the proceedings Mother Nature threatened to rip the party up from the hinges, with gale-force winds corralling all of the partygoers indoors. The band was utterly game for this abrupt displacement, shuttling its musical accoutrements into a tight corner of the Porches Barn to continue rocking and rolling as the celebration pressed on undeterred.

As is so often the case in our beloved Steamboat, it wasn’t long before the squall subsided and the sun reemerged, allowing the partygoers to spill back out into the veritable botanic gardens of the Porches pool area for more swimming, Snow Kones, face painting, and general merriment!
