BlogSteamboat Mural

Rich Western history meets a lively art culture in Steamboat Springs.

Steamboat Springs is a town steeped in rich history and traditions that extends into the creative arts realm. Stroll through downtown Steamboat and you’ll see beautiful murals on the sides of buildings, unique structures that double as benches, bike racks and window displays that showcase our culture and creativity.

Downtown Steamboat isn’t the only place to experience our immense art culture. There are so many places to enjoy live music, theatre, dance, art, and to explore your creative side.

Join us as we head into the final weeks of summer and celebrate the creative arts in all it’s forms.

Steamboat Creates

A wonderful example of Steamboat’s love of the arts, The Steamboat Art Council, was created over 40 years ago in an effort to bring art and creativity to our town. Since their founding, the council has given performance, collaborative, and other medias of art a place to flourish. The Steamboat Art Council has become advocates on both a city and state level for the importance and celebration of art and creativity.

Offering classes in pottery and photography, and fun work out classes The Steamboat Art Council has something for everyone. The extensive kids program gives kids the opportunity to explore their creative sides through camps and a variety of classes.

The Steamboat Art Council also helps bring some of our favorite yearly events to life, including the Cabaret and Art in the Park.

The Steamboat Art Depot

Downtown on 13th St

The Steamboat Art Depot is an old train depot turned into an art gallery with ever changing exhibits. The exhibits focus on Shifting Perspective and give people a space to come together through art. The depot also hosts art classes, youth camps, and can be rented for events.

First Friday Artwalk

Varying art galleries and restaurants downtown.

A local favorite the Frist Friday Artwalk allows patrons the opportunity peruse the art displayed in various galleries and restaurants downtown. Many serve wine and light appetizers for an optional donation. This event is a fun way to explore downtown and see local talent.

Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School

Created in 1914, this 76-acre campus has evolved into a premiere school for performing arts and brings over 250 students from across the country to showcase twenty performances each summer.

Located just minutes outside of Steamboat Springs the camp features rustic cabins and various performance centers in a beautiful forest setting. This allows students to disconnect from the outside world while drawing from nature to hone their art. While studying at Perry-Mansfield students express their creativity and imagination through theatre, dance, musical theatre, and creative writing.

Not just a sleep away camp, Perry Mansfield also offers day camps for various art medias as well as equestrian lessons.
