A jam packed month in Steamboat…
With over 200 inches of snow this season so far, we have been having an incredible winter season! If our legendary powder skiing isn’t reason enough to come to Steamboat, there is always our jam-packed event calendar this February! From ski races to snowshoe tours to a true Western Winter Carnival, you’ll be sure to make memories that will last a lifetime.
Can’t Miss Events:
Kehoe and Haller Cup
February 1st
Clip into your skis for a chance to race on the private, All Out racecourse at Steamboat Ski Resort. Whether you want to race GS, dual slalom or both this is a fun filled day of skiing and prizes.
Winter Carnival
February 5th through the 9th
The Steamboat Winter Carnival may just be our favorite event of the year! Each day there is a new and exciting display of athleticism from the children in the Steamboat’s Winter Sports Club.
There are so many exciting events you’ll have to come see for yourself, but we’d be happy to tell you about a few of our favorites…
S’More Family Fun Party
Cozy up in the Big Tent on Vannatta Field at Howelsen Hill for a family-style chili and s’more feast followed by dancing.
Night Extravaganza
An evening of celebration including music, a torchlight parade, and what will be a Guinness World Record breaking firework display… all from the base of Howelsen Hill.
Street Events
On both Saturday and Sunday, Lincoln Avenue will be closed in downtown Steamboat as trucks of snow are hauled in for the street events. Some of our favorites include the Donkey Jump and Shovel Race.
Moonlight Snowshoe Tour
February 9th
Join Yampatika for a guided full moon snowshoe tour on Emerald Mountain. This moderate hike is sure to get your blood pumping, but be sure to dress in extra layers!
Light the Night Celebration
February 14th
A wonderful Valentine’s Day treat, the Light the Night Celebration features six hot air balloons lighting Gondola Square followed by a torchlight parade and fireworks display.
Backcountry Film Festival
February 15th
Head to the Chief Theatre for an evening of featured ski films from around the world! These films are sure to leave you feeling inspired and ready to get out on the mountain.
WinterWonderGrass Mtn Top Dinner
February 20th
An evening of music, food, and drinks and join the artists and friends of WinterWonderGrass for an evening you won’t soon forget.
Free Family Snowshoe
February 29th
Join Yampatika at Legacy Ranch for a day of fun with the family. This event will include a guided history tour through hay fields followed by hot chocolate and kid friendly activities.
