Kicking off a new year in the Yampa Valley…

What better way to kick off 2020 than with some of Steamboat’s most exciting events! From cowboys on skis to community dance productions, there is plenty of fun to be had for the entire family. And the best part? The Porches shuttle is happy to take you to each of these events.

Can’t Miss Events:

First Friday Artwalk

January 3rd

Kick off the weekend with a stroll downtown to local galleries and restaurants to view fantastic works of art while enjoying light appetizers and sipping a glass of wine.  

Ski Free Sundays

Each Sunday in January  

Every Sunday in January enjoy Ski Free Sunday and make some turns on historic Howelsen Hill. On January 12th, Ski Free Sunday will also have a beer garden, food trucks, and patio games.  

Cowboy Up Balloon Glow

January 19th

Head to the base of the ski area for a beautiful sight as hot air balloons light up the night. Timber & Torch will be throwing fantastic party with live music by Banks & Shane.  

46th Annual Cowboy Downhill

January 20th

A sight you will have to see to believe! The 46th Annual Cowboy Downhill is a thrilling Steamboat tradition where ProRodeo cowboys strap on skis and snowboards and race down the face of the mountain.  

The festivities kick off at 11am in the base area and will include a 4H petting zoo, appearances by the Denver Broncos cheerleaders, and a concert.

Snowshoe through History Happy Hour

January 22nd

Take a scenic drive to Legacy Ranch for a history lesson by snowshoe led by The Tread of Pioneers Museum. Following the snowshoe tour, head inside for a hot beverage and a talk on historic and modern ranching.

Dance Theatre Concert

January 23rd through the 25th

One of Steamboat’s favorite events of the winter season, the annual Dance Theatre Concert, put on by Elevation Dance Studio features dancers of all ages.  Each year these dancers spend months choreographing and perfecting fantastic routines, it’s no wonder this event sells out every year!
