April showers bring May wildflowers in Steamboat

The ski season has come to an end and there is a feeling of anticipation in the air around town. It’s a feeling you can’t quite escape, the feeling of springtime. As the Yampa Valley turns the most magnificent shade of green and the wildflowers start to bloom, we become eager to get outside and start enjoying our favorite warm weather pastimes.

We caught up with outdoor enthusiast and Porches concierge, Sara Gorevan, to hear about her favorite springtime activities.

Must-do Springtime Activities:

Hike Fish Creek Falls

Fish Creek Falls is one of the most popular year round hikes in Steamboat Springs, but in the springtime, the roaring water of the falls is a site to see. As the snow melts and the run-off builds, the sheer power of the water cascading over the falls will leave you speechless.

Yampa River Botanical Park

There is nothing more serene than spending an hour or two strolling through this 6-acre property that features over 50 gardens of both alpine and desert plants.

Stroll, Bike, or Jog along the Yampa Core Trail

The core trail is a 7.5-mile paved, multi-use trail that runs along the Yampa River from the mountain and through downtown. Along the way you’re sure to see paddleboarders and kayakers taking on the river.

Restaurant Specials and Happy Hour

During the spring months, many of Steamboat’s restaurants offer incredible specials and happy hours for locals and visitors alike. It’s an excellent opportunity to try all of the wonderful food our town has to offer.
