The winter season kicks off with events for the whole family

This fall in Steamboat brought spectacular colors and beautiful warm weather, but after the first snowfall of the year, we are ready for the winter season to get under way. With just a few weeks until Opening Day, there is a palpable feeling of excitement and anticipation in the air around town. As the season draws closer, there are plenty of events to launch the winter season.

Can’t Miss Events:

History Happy Hour
November 6th

Enjoy a local craft beer while American Brewing Historian and brewer for Left Hand Brewing, Carl Rose, takes you on a journey of brewing throughout history. Hosted by Butcherknife Brewing, this event is sure to have everyone talking.

Warren Miller Film
November 15th, 16th, and 17th

A favorite event in Steamboat that perfectly kicks off the start of winter and gets everyone excited for the season ahead. Each year the legendary filmmakers of Warren Miller Entertainment produce a ski movie featuring some of the greatest skiers and snowboarders of our time. This year marks the 69th installment in their movie making history and pays tribute to Warren Miller himself who helped start the movement of capturing skiing on film. Face of Winter will premiere in Steamboat at the Chief Theatre. Be sure to buy tickets early as they sell out each year.

Festival of Trees
November 17th through the 27th

Join the Tread of Pioneers Museum for the 25th Annual Festival of Trees, a Steamboat tradition that gets the holiday season under way. The museum is transformed into a holiday forest with trees decorated by local organizations and businesses. The perfect place to take family holiday photos. There is also a scavenger hunt with historical clues that lead to hidden treasures in the trees.

Opening Day
November 21st

Since the early 90s Steamboat Ski Resort has opened the season with Scholarship Day to benefit Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. On the first day of each season, all proceeds made from discounted lift tickets are given to the Scholarship Fund. In 2017 alone, the Steamboat community raised nearly $30,000 for the fund. This year in lieu of Scholarship Day, the mountain is presenting the Steamboat Winter Sports Club with a check for $50,000 as part of the opening day ceremonies. These ceremonies also include Korbel mimosas, Champagne Powder® donuts, and a “Snow Dance”.
